4 You Must Try These Outdoor Activities On Your Alaskan Vacation

Thanks for visiting my website. I'm Bobby Johnson. Hitting a home run is a special milestone for those who are just learning how to play. It is a moment when you realize that you have the potential to play as well as those who are in the big leagues. I've seen the look on the faces of those who have hit a home run for the first time and I can never get enough of it. My love for this moment and for the game of baseball has led to the creation of this blog. You will learn everything I know about improving at the game of baseball and about sports in general.

Alaska is a beautiful state that draws in many visitors. If you are planning a vacation to Alaska in the near future, there are many activities you must consider. Many of those activities are outdoor adventures. If you like getting your hands dirty and exploring everything nature has to offer, check out these four must-try outdoor activities on your Alaskan vacation.

Try Hunting or Fishing

If you are a hunter or enjoy fishing, Alaska has some of the best wildlife for you. Alaskan hunters can find caribou, moose, grizzly bears, wolves and many other types of animals. For those who prefer waterfowl, there are many species to find, such as pintail, black scoter, mallard, harlequin, green-winged teal and many others. Fishers can find plenty of places to fish, including, ocean fishing, river fishing, ice fishing, lake fishing, etc. You can find many types of fish, including cutthroat trout, Northern pike, rainbow trout, silver salmon, steelhead and many more.

Visit a National Park

If you prefer to see wildlife from afar without hunting or fishing, consider visiting a national park, which also has incredible examples of Alaskan flora. Alaska has many national parks, such as Denali National Park, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. They all have their own unique attractions. For example, at Denali National Park, you can see Mt. McKinley, the tallest mountain in North America. However, if you are more interested in history, the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park follows the route gold-seekers took in the past. Many also offer tours, so you can learn as you go, regardless of which park you choose.

Hit the Water

If you prefer to be on the water, Alaska has many options to consider. You can start by joining a cruise or tour that travels the rivers or ocean. While there, you can view many aquatic creatures, particularly dolphin and whales, which are common in Alaska. If you prefer traveling alone or with a small group of friends, consider renting a kayak or canoe. With both, you can reach narrow areas that most boats can't reach. This gives you an unparalleled tour as you look at glaciers, travel through narrow passages, view the breathtaking flora and fauna and explore places only seen by few other people. If you don't mind the icy cold waters of Alaskan rivers or the thrill of rapids, you may also want to consider white rater rafting.

Take an Off-Road Tour

Another option is to take an off-road tour, which is the best way to experience what Alaska really has to offer. One option is to rent an ATV, which you can do in several of the national parks. Some ATV tours allow you to explore on your own, but others have you follow a guide who will stop and educate you about the various landmarks, such as Otto Lake, Healy Valley, Alaska Ranch and many more. There are also Jeep tours. Again, these can be with or without a tour guide. However, even if you have no guide, you may get an audio guide that will tell you what you are seeing on your journey. Last, there are many other off-road travel options available, such as horseback, bikes and even dog sleds.

Alaska may be cold and dark much of the year, but it has some of the most gorgeous wilderness for you to explore. Whether your vacation is centered around work, family or friends, you must try at least one of these outdoor activities.
